Cabinet Design, Ordering & Product FAQs

Clear answers to common questions about cabinet design, product selection, ordering, and project planning. Whether you're a homeowner, contractor, or designer, this resource helps you move forward with clarity and confidence.

Cabinet Design & Project Planning

Start your cabinet project with the right information. These questions cover layout planning, design expectations, and how to avoid common mistakes before ordering cabinetry.

How do I begin the process?

All we need to begin is a completed design planner. This helps define your layout, cabinet preferences, and project scope so we can create an accurate design and recommendation.

Once submitted, your planner is assigned to a designer immediately. Most initial designs are completed within 3–5 business days, depending on project complexity and workload.

A qualified cabinet designer helps improve functionality, optimize your layout, and identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining design integrity.

Capturing the full space ensures accurate layouts, proper spacing, and better visualization. It also prevents design issues that can arise when the full layout is not understood.

This typically happens when designs are created without real-world installation knowledge. Proper cabinet planning requires understanding spacing, clearances, and functionality—not just visual layout.

Fillers provide necessary spacing for proper installation and door/drawer function. They allow installers to adjust cabinetry to fit walls that may not be perfectly square.

Choosing Cabinet Lines & Construction Types

Selecting the right cabinet line impacts design flexibility, durability, and overall project success. These questions help clarify differences between materials, manufacturers, and construction methods.

How do I determine which manufacturer to work with?

Your designer will help match you with the right cabinet line based on your style, budget, and project requirements. Inspiration photos and design goals are helpful in guiding this decision.

Custom and semi-custom manufacturers offer greater flexibility in sizing, finishes, and design options, allowing for a better fit and more tailored final result.

Not necessarily. While plywood is often preferred, material quality varies significantly. High-quality North American furniture board can outperform lower-grade imported plywood in durability and consistency.

Many retailers offer cabinets as an add-on product. CCD focuses specifically on cabinetry and design, ensuring higher quality, better layouts, and a more specialized approach.

Ordering Process, Lead Times & Delivery

Understand what happens after your design is complete, including ordering, production timelines, shipping, and what to expect when your cabinets arrive.

How do I order custom cabinetry?

Once your design is finalized, you will receive a complete design package for approval. After review and confirmation, your order is submitted for production.

Most cabinetry is built to order, with typical lead times of 6–8 weeks. Specialty finishes or inset cabinetry may require additional time.

Cabinets are shipped through manufacturer logistics partners and delivered to a local freight agent. You’ll then schedule a home delivery—no pickup required.

We accept major credit cards (excluding Amex), as well as ACH and wire transfers.

Pricing, Installation & Post-Delivery Support

These questions address cost expectations, installation responsibilities, and what happens if issues arise during or after delivery.

What is the average cost of cabinetry?

Cabinet pricing varies significantly based on materials, construction type, finishes, and customization. Your designer will help match you with options that fit your budget and expectations.
